EF Johnson Technologies, Inc. Receives $800,000 Order From a Federal Customer
Company to upgrade Project 25 compliant interoperable radios for first responders
Irving, TX – September 23, 2008 – EF Johnson Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: EFJI) announced today that it has received an order valued at $800,000 from a federal customer to upgrade Project 25 radios with optional Over the Air Rekeying (OTAR) functionality.
“We are implementing our Over the Air Rekeying (OTAR) functionality into existing EFJohnson radios,” said Michael Jalbert, president and chief executive officer of EFJohnson Technologies, Inc. “OTAR involves changing the encryption keys in a two-way radio over the radio channel or over the air, and enables greater security and control over the radios on a system.”
The advantages of OTAR in providing greater system security include: the ability to update encryption keys more frequently, compromised radios can be disabled and removed from secure conversations, reduced manual touching of radios or the need to send them offsite for rekeying, reduced windshield time and shipping time, reduced risk of encryption keys falling into the wrong hands, and ensuring that the encryption keys are loaded into the right radios.
