EFJohnson Awarded Order From Wise County For $1.5 Million Radio System

IRVING, Texas – August 29, 2011 – EF Johnson Technologies, Inc., one of the nation’s leading developers and manufacturers of mission critical communications technology for emergency responders, announced today that it has been awarded an order from Wise County (Texas) to install a new radio system that will enable the County to meet FCC narrowbanding mandates and allow users to interoperate with adjacent communities.  The Company will provide Wise County with its Conventional EFJohnson P25 system solution, a cost effective solution that will address the County’s immediate communication needs and allow seamless scalability for future growth.  In addition, EFJohnson will provide the County with state-of-the-art mobile and portable radios from its award-winning ES Series.

“EFJohnson is pleased to work with Wise County to provide its public safety agencies with a robust and scalable radio system that will meet its current and future system demands,” said Andrew Adams, president and CEO of EFJohnson.  “We are confident this cost-efficient system will allow seamless communication between County agencies and enable emergency responders to successfully perform their mission-critical duties.”

The EFJohnson P25 solution provides a unique approach to solving system connectivity issues and linking sites using its distributed, self healing network.  Its distributed architecture, which offers similar features found in more expensive wide-area trunked systems, eliminates traditional single points of failure. The system uses mature, standards-based, non-proprietary Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) networking technology, which enables intelligent network communications without costly and complex centralized equipment.

In addition to the system solution, the Wise County order includes the purchase of EFJohnson 51SL ES series portable radios and 5300ES series mobile radios.  These high-performance, reliable radios are P25-compliant and include EFJohnson’s AMBE+2 vocoder – the highest-quality digital voice coder in the industry.
