Irving, TX – November 19, 2009 – EF Johnson Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: EFJI) announced today that its StarGate™ Dispatch Console has received the Hot Product award from Public Safety Communications magazine, the official magazine of the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO).

“The dispatch console is the core of the first responder’s dispatch operation,” said Michael Jalbert, president and chief executive officer of EF Johnson Technologies, Inc. “We developed StarGate as the next generation in dispatch consoles for the public safety access point (PSAP) market. StarGate has a visually appealing and easy to use graphical user interface that dispatchers adapt to right away. Customers also gain space relief in their crowded equipment rooms because StarGate’s Internet Protocol (IP) based design interfaces with Project 25 trunked and conventional radio systems without requiring central switch equipment.”

Jalbert added, “Our 2010 installation efforts will deploy StarGate in a variety of PSAP applications. The advanced features and multimode capability of StarGate will position EF Johnson Technologies, Inc. to capture its fair share of the P25 digital and legacy console market. The Company expects console sales to increase steadily over the next twelve to eighteen months due to StarGate’s competitive advantages.”

The Company has received the Hot Product award for the third consecutive year. In 2008 the Company’s 5300 ES Series Mobile Radio received the Hot Product award, and its 5100 ES Series Portable Radio received the Hot Product award in 2007.

Public Safety Communications cited StarGate’s customizable user interface, Enhanced (AMBE+2) P25 Vocoder and superior sound capabilities, DES-OFB Multi-Key FIPS 140-2 voice encryption, and enhanced P25 call management features. The Public Safety Communications staff and their Editorial Advisory Committee selected the fifteen most innovative products of 2009 following research conducted during the APCO International Conference and Expo in August.
