DeKalb County, Illinois selected ATLAS P25 technology from EF Johnson Technologies, Inc., the mission-critical P25 communications specialist for JVCKENWOOD Corporation, to replace its 25-year-old analog radio system. The county operated an assortment of analog systems causing interoperability issues between first responders. The new system will unify first responders and provide county-wide coverage with 4-sites, 6-channels and a Zetron MAX console system.
Andy Sullivan, DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy, says, “We chose ATLAS because it has no single point of failure, unlike traditional LMR systems which have one, vulnerable central core. The system will withstand the most extreme conditions giving us peace of mind.”
“The customer service that has been provided by EFJohnson has been exceptional and the company has always been responsive to any needs or clarifications that have arisen. We look forward to our working relationship with EFJohnson as we move forward with the implementation of our new P25 system. Our goal has always been to provide safe and reliable communications for all public safety in DeKalb County and EFJohnson is helping us to accomplish this critical mission.”
The ATLAS solution is favored for its simple business model. Chief Deputy Sullivan adds, “With ATLAS, there are no hidden costs. Everything is included in the initial system price – it’s a complete, turn-key solution. Our County will not face any surprises during the implementation process.”
John Suzuki, EFJohnson President and CEO says, “We’re proud to provide the County of DeKalb with a future-proof system that will adapt over time as technology evolves. With our unique Latitude™ technology, ATLAS is the safest and most flexible P25 system on the market.”
