DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY NAMES EFJOHNSON TACCOM CONTRACT SUPPLIER

IRVING, TEXAS – June 4, 2012 – EF Johnson Technologies, Inc., one of the nation’s leading developers and manufacturers of communications technology for emergency responders, has been named by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) as part of an elite group of suppliers eligible to provide DHS agencies and certain non-DHS agencies with mission critical communications equipment including subscriber radios and infrastructure equipment through a $3 billion Tactical Communications (TacCom) contract. EFJohnson will be a TacCom contract supplier for a two-year period from 2012 – 2014, with options for additional extensions that could extend the contract through 2017.

TacCom is a multiple award Indefinite-Delivery, Indefinite-Quantity (IDIQ) contract established in 2012 to help DHS purchase a full array of tactical communications products, infrastructure and services for mission critical, public safety communications. The total funds spent on equipment through this contract may not exceed $3 billion, inclusive of options.

“EFJohnson’s selection as a TacCom supplier by the Department of Homeland Security reinforces our position as a provider of high-quality, cost-effective mission critical communications equipment and solutions. I am honored that we are included on this elite list,” said Andrew Adams, president and CEO of EF Johnson Technologies, Inc. “I applaud the department’s decision to maximize its purchasing power by issuing a multi-vendor contract with provisions that allow small businesses to fairly compete. By doing so, DHS will receive a great value for the highest-quality equipment currently available in the communications marketplace.”

EFJohnson was identified as one of only three qualified small business track suppliers for subscriber and infrastructure equipment, which includes Project 25-compliant, digital two-way portable and mobile radios, base stations and software. EFJohnson was also identified as an approved vendor of equipment complementing the communications system infrastructure, such as dispatch consoles and mobile radio control stations.

Agencies purchasing equipment from the TacCom contract include the U.S. Coast Guard, the Transportation Security Administration, the Federal Emergency Management Agency and U.S. Customs and Border Protection. In addition, non-DHS agencies, such as the U.S. Department of Justice, Department of State and the White House Communications Agency, may also procure tactical communications equipment through the TacCom Contract.
