EFJOHNSON EXPANDS P25 RADIO PORTFOLIO AND IMPLEMENTS STANDARD THREE-YEAR WARRANTY
IRVING, TEXAS – August 17, 2015 – EF Johnson Technologies, Inc. today announced the expansion of its next generation Viking® P25 portfolio and the introduction of the Kenwood TK-30 series to its P25 offering at APCO International’s Annual Conference & Exhibition in Washington, DC.
“With the new Viking 400 portable and mobile series, smaller communities and rural agencies can now have the same specialized P25 radios, without all the high-end public safety features that larger city and metropolitan departments require,” says Karthik Rangarajan, senior vice-president of strategy and products. “The Viking 400 series is the single-protocol version of our 600 series. The portable comes standard with our unique software based noise cancellation and includes options such as high visibility housing and FIRESafe™ software, which makes it a great choice for fire departments.”
“We’re also pleased to announce that EFJohnson has expanded its P25 solution offering with the Kenwood TK-30 radio series. With a compact form factor, the TK-30 portable has a large 1.74-inch color display LCD that can be viewed clearly in the dark or direct sunlight. The TK-30 mobile features a 2.55-inch color LCD with an integrated luminance sensor that automatically adjusts the brightness of the backlight.”
Mr. Rangarajan says that many rural public safety departments and local government agencies, such as public works, require P25 interoperable communications but simply don’t have the budget for a fully featured P25 subscriber radio. He says that the new Viking 400 and TK-30 series provide these agencies with access to reliable P25 equipment at an affordable price without compromising on capability or features.
Since its acquisition by JVCKENWOOD Corporation in 2014, EFJohnson has moved its subscriber manufacturing operations to Japan, a global leader in integrated, total-quality and lean manufacturing. “With a lower cost of production, we are able to offer lower priced options to our customers,” says John Suzuki, president and chief executive officer. “As proof of our quality-driven approach and commitment to our customers, we’re proud to provide a standard three-year warranty on all Viking and TK series P25 subscriber units,” says Mr. Suzuki.
EFJohnson will be demonstrating its broad portfolio of P25 Phase 1 and Phase 2 radios and ATLAS® systems at the APCO International conference on August 17-18. The company will be co-exhibiting with JVCKENWOOD at booth 1021/1121.
